Making Homemade Butter

10/6/2014

I must admit, I absolutely love this video on making butter. She answers all the questions I have had and it isn't hard to follow. I can't wait to make butter from some of the milk I get from my friends dairy cow. I am thinking about trying some herb butters and freezing those for special occasions. Have you made butter before? And if so, do you enjoy making it or would you rather just buy it from the market?

My First Roasted Chicken

Roasting a whole chicken has always been a dream of mine, but was always too scared that it would turn out dry, not cook fully, or make someone sick. LOL. One of our friends gave us a few of her free-range chickens from her farm. Tough I was very excited I still had no idea how to cook them, so into the deep freezer they went.

This morning I decided it was time to cook one. Funny, the first post that I ran into this morning on Facebook was from The Kitchn, it was titled, "How to Roast the Perfect Chicken". That's when I knew this was the perfect day to cook mine. I followed all of the steps on the website, except I used the seasonings below.

Homemade Tortillas

For years (and yes I mean years) I have tried to make tortillas just like the ones my hubby ate while growing up. The ones I made were - well let's just say ok. Then one of my friends shared this video with me tonight and it changed my world! LOL I watched the video like 4 times, each time a different part clicked and realized (up until this point) I had been doing it all wrong. So at 10 o'clock at night, I decide to make these tortillas - just like the video, and Oh. My. Goodness. There are no words to describe just how yummy these are!!
Below is the process I used. Yes, I cheated and used my mixer... But in my defense it was 10 at night and if I hadn't I'd still be making these right now (11:47 PM) instead of finishing up this post and going to bed. So with that, I wish you all a good night. I would love to know if you make these, and what you think of her recipe!
