Today is the Marine Corps 238th Birthday. I am thankful for the Marines - each and every one of them. So very honored to be married to one, and have several in my life. They definitely are Always Faithful! In my opinion there should be way more days to celebrate and honor our military then there currently are. Every day that we wake up and go to bed at night, we should be lifting our military and their families up in prayer. They are the front lines, they are the ones that keep us safe, they are the ones that have seen things that we couldn't even imagine. They deserve our respect, our prayers, and our compassion. I encourage each one of you to Thank our military, our soldiers, our veterans, our warriors, and our heroes. For without them we would not have the freedoms we take advantage of every day.

I am thankful for guys nights! My hubby goes out to his friends house, they watch movies, do guy things, etc. I love these nights! Because this is my time to bake, cook, watch chick flicks, turn up the music, dance and sing like know one is watching :) - ok the animals frequently stare, but that's normal! :)

Tonight I made protein granola bars, played silly computer games, watched girlie shows, and cuddled with my littles. Though I LOVE spending time with my husband, I think guys and girls nights are essential to a happy marriage! You know the saying "Absence makes the heart grow fonder".

I am so thankful for my grandson, Conrad. Born the day before my birthday. What an awesome gift from God he is. I remember holding him for the first time, so nervous that I was going to do something wrong and make him cry. But he didn't. Instead he just looked around the room with his beautiful, bright eyes. I miss him so much! He lives in Washington State. We feel like we are missing so much of his growing up. I pray for him daily. I get worried about the world he is growing up in and pray for his protection. I think about him growing up and pray he becomes a strong man that seeks the heart of God. Bless you Conrad. Your grandma and grandpa love you more then you will ever know.

Day 98 of 365 Days of Thanks

I will skip the "I can't believe it's been so long since I posted, etc" and just hop to the real reason this project exists - being Thankful.

I am thankful for good friends and good food. Today God showed me that moving here was a way to show me that friendships are important. Getting out the house and spending time with friends that know me so well is music to my heart. Friends provide so much - laughter, love, understanding, unspoken words, fellowship, and so much more. The years before we moved here, we had friends, but we only saw them at work or at church. Not much outside of those two places. Here in our little town, I run into my friends everywhere and it makes me fall in love with this place all over again.

Before moving here I cooked, but not as much as I do now. We had the luxury of eating out if we wanted to. Had so many options, there was an app for that. Now we have 2 places in town. One is a bar and everything they have is fried (not my first choice) and the other has great food, but not one that I could eat at everyday. Other options are more then 30 miles in each direction (which seems really far now). Now we cook almost everything from scratch, some organic, less processed food, some from our very own garden. My cooking & baking life has done a 360* change and I love it - so thankful for the food that God provides, the knowledge on how to cook it, and the openness that my husband has to new unknown recipes.
