1/2 cup medium chili powder
2.5 tsp garlic powder
3 tsp onion powder or shallot salt
3 tbsp Aleppo Chiles crushed (or red pepper flakes)
3 tsp Mexican oregano
1 tbsp smoked paprika
1/3 cup cumin
1 1/2 tbsp kosher salt (more to taste)
3 tbsp finely ground pepper
* to add more heat, you can add hotter peppers or chili powder. The above mix is about a medium heat.
- In small bowl, mix all ingredients and store in airtight container.
- Brown 1 pound of your choice of meat in large skillet on medium-high heat. Drain fat.
- Stir in 2 tablespoons of mix and 1/2 cup of water. Bring to boil. Reduce heat to low; simmer 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
