Today I visited Ricky & Lucy's Country Greenhouse in Sidney, Nebraska. I originally went to just buy some Sage plants for the garden. I learned that Sage plants are a great deterrent for the Flea Beetles that attack my broccoli plants and radishes. (Source)
Once I got there the questions that kept flowing out of my mouth were answered with great responses! I asked what I could do to get my little bell pepper plants to grow (seems like they are just hanging out and not budging even after I planted them with egg shells and Epsom salts. They recommended a great Organic veg plant food called Happy Frog - and the best part is I can use it on all my veggie plants including my herbs. Next I asked if I had taken my storm huts off my peppers and tomatoes too soon and they recommended that I wrap tomato cages in Plastic Wrap and place them around each if the plants - leaving the tops open - forming a bit of a Hot House for them to grow in. They have been doing this for years and their tomatoes and peppers thrive in this environment. They said as soon as you see fruit developing remove the wraps or it will ripen the tomatoes and peppers too fast. (Here is a video I found that explains how to).
